Child’s prescription, please help translate?
My son was given the following prescrption for far sightedness. Can you tell me what exactly it means? The doc said this should self correct, can you tell me if it is a “heavy” or “strong” prescription? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

My child’s prescription reads:
OD: +3.25 +0.00 CYL 27.50 FPD 26.50 NPD

He is farsighted. +3 is considered low to moderate severity (+3 – +5 is considered moderate). Depending on how old your child is, he may well out grow it. Guidelines for prescribing glasses to young children recommend glasses only for a prescription of more than +4.5 for kids 2-3 years old, *unless* your child is also crossing his eyes. If his eyes are crossing, then glasses are recommended for any prescription greater than +1.5 (for ages 2-3 years old).
If your sonis not getting glasses, you should watch to make sure his eyes aren’t crossing, but otherwise, they should become less farsighted as they get older.
If your son is older, he or she will probably need to wear glasses.
