Cooler Pump

Our heat pump blows continuously without getting very cool or warm. What’s wrong with it?
Here in Florida, we had an unusually cool Winter and had the heat on a lot. The last couple of weeks before the weather became warmer we noticed that our Trane heat pump wasn’t getting very warm anymore. Now it is getting hot outside and we see that the A/C isn’t blowing very cool either. Did a part wear out or is it something else?
There are a number of possibilities for what is happening with your unit. The most commonly suggested answer is to have more refrigerant put in. Unfortunately, that is often not the answer. The are several other things that could be causing your system not to operate correctly. The only way to be certain is to have it checked out by a qualified hvac service technician. While it is entirely possible that your system needs to have refrigerant added, it is also possible that the charge is correct but something is preventing the refrigerant from flowing properly, being metered properly, or being able to absorb or reject heat properly. Heat pumps are complicated devices with several different components that must all work together in order for it to do its job. I would recommend that you have the system checked out by someone well versed in the hvac service field. They will know what needs to be checked and the proper methods for performing those checks. They will also know where to obtain any replacement parts your particular system requires. They may even have the parts in stock on their service vehicle. If replacement parts are needed, they should be able to tell you exactly how much any parts and/or labor will cost before any repairs are actually made.
