98 taurus strange noise?
1998 Taurus, 3.0 OHV. Friend has started and run for 5-10 minutes. He was released and he was struck and he felt a burning smell. The gauges were reading normal and no heat came out, it has also been slowed normal. He closed it and continued to bang at the same speed, strange as it may seem. He came in and 5 minutes later and the noise had ceased. I noticed a week ago became a sheave box. I say shut up and smoked an accessory belt, not provoking circulating coolant explaining heat?? What kept hitting after the car has been cut? A / C compressor trying involved? I'll watch it later, but I am seeking opinoins. He also was 15-20 below zero last night, if it is important. It was the beating of the cooling system coolant boiling. replace the tensioner and belt, and of course oil and the level colant. If the compressor had exploded it would certainly strike. but stops after the engine stops. also the catalytic converter may have been making a popping noise. if it was too cold, it may not have enough coolant in the system and broken water pump.
