98 Ford Contour 4Cyl. – Replace Serpentine Belt.?
98 Ford Contour LX 4Cyl.
I just replaced my alternator and now am having trouble slipping the belt back over the alternator pulley. I have tried turning clockwise on the tensioner and it did relieve some tension but not quite enough to slip it over the alternator pulley.
I am using a standard combination 13MM wrench. Is there another technique to help loosen the belt tension, as the way I was doing it was really hurting my hand. I had one person up top trying to put the belt over the pulley while I was under the car releasing tension.
Please help, im excited I have my new alternator installed but need to get the belt on to finish up.

use your breaker bar in the provided square hole, route the belt over all the other pulleys first then slip it over the idler pulley last
