Do Internet and Cable TV signals travel on the same coaxial cable?
Hi all, I have a high speed Internet modem hooked up to a coaxial cable in one room and then I have my TV hooked up to another coax cable in another room. Can I just get a cable splitter and hook up both my Internet modem and Cable TV on the same line in the same room?

Yes, both video and internet services are on one coaxial cable. Just make sure you get a good-quality splitter and RG-6 cable. The splitter needs to have a frequency range of 5-1000 MHz, and will cost probably $8 or so. Ideally, the coax should be quad-shield. When you connect the cables to the splitter, put them on finger tight, then use pliers or a 7/16″ wrench to make them just a bit tighter- about a sixth of a turn.
The good splitter and cable, along with proper tightening, will ensure there is no outside signal leaking into your system.
