Chiseled Vessel
do you think my poem is any good? and can you guess what it’s about?
you never know what goes on behind closed doors
where no one can see but the devil’s eye spies
you and me can be alone, silence take over
i stare at you from across the room, uneasy, queasy
you will never understand the process of my mind
the thought patterns, the spiral of depression, the uplift of love
and yet you stare back with dark eyes full of light
the optimism in your voice when you tell me the love is no more
riped me apart inside, and yet i remain still as if decay were to take over
my body being the vessel of a battle between heart and mind
you walk away into the darkest corner to disappear forever
i’ll shed a single tear for you to burn my cheeks evermore
then sink back into the shell i call a soul
but promise me one thing on your black chiseled heart
remember the way my fingers fit with yours so perfectly
to have perfect slammed into a wall of sorrow.
Wow, this is some deep and powerful stuff. I’m guessing this poem was about you and a previous girlfriend/boyfriend and you’re saying that you still can’t get over your love for him/her even when the person decided to dump you. The poem reminds we of some sort of desperation as if all you wanted was something for him/her to remember you by.
By the way, my favorite line is “My body being the vessel of a battle between heart and mind.” i remembered using a similar line like this for a poem I once wrote about love.
