Chain Hoist
what size beam material is required to support 1000lbs @ the center when supported on the ends 11 ft apart?
My vision is to mount a piece of stuctural steel or aluminum across the garage door opening, mounted on the ends to the house, to allow a chain hoist to be hung from the center for lifting engines. Thanks
If you want the minimum size you will have to give details of the “end conditions” of the beam. Will you build it into the walls so it cannot rotate? Presumably you will be slinging the load from the bottom flange of the beam?
A six inch wide and six inch deep I (eye) section should be plenty.
