SLOOH is a robotic observatory in the Canary Islands. Every Monday, when conditions permit viewing, you can participate in SLOOH Mulitple "missions" during a one hour session.
What SLOOH rest? Apparently, it was about putting the OOH into SLEW!
At the summit of Mount Teide, on Tenerife in the Canary Islands, the telescopes SLOOH booth nestled between the facilities of a professional observatory. SLOOH is a subscription Web site that streams live images of dozens of celestial objects viewed by its telescopes each clear night over the Internet.
SLOOH currently uses several 3-megapixel CCD cameras and four telescopes (two domes):
- a 14-inch diameter Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope (2160mm focal length) high magnification field and large field and lens system with a focal length of 135mm at f / 5.6-1 Dome
- 14-inch diameter Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope (SCT), with a focal length of 4000mm, and a telescope of 85-mm diameter APO refractor with a focal length of 480 mm Dome 2
The organization will soon be adding an additional 14-inch SCT with a focal length of 2100 mm, and a telescope 34 mm in diameter with a focal length of 135 mm. Members are allowed to control the scope from their own computer. Bring the rhythms and wonder of space exploration to people of all ages, SLOOH telescopes are the centerpiece of life interactive missions at the request of the universe.
The site is good for someone who knows nothing about astronomy and Avid, enthusiastic amateurs, for observers for the first time all ages and parents wanting to introduce their children to the world without buying, assembling, and learn to use telescopes. Would-be astronomers can watch live images of the night sky, but in the comfort of their homes. The preset tasks are distributed Live with only brief intermissions as the telescopes and CCD cameras are rotated to a celestial body to another.
Membership annual $ 49 basic package provides you with unlimited access to group missions and the ability to connect at any time, as during the hours of mission. This package base also gives you 15 minutes a year long solo in which you choose the point where the scopes. Although the basic composition has certain restrictions an "all-you-can-eat" option is available for $ 99 per year.
To guarantee its visitors the best experience, testing speed SLOOH your Internet connection and accepts only guests with connection speeds of 40 kbps (40k) or more.
SLOOH makes heavy use of the latest Macromedia Flash Player, a web browser plug-in. Before you arrive at your interface, controls SLOOH to see if your browser has latest version of Flash Player installed and directs you to download if you do.
While tasks are running, operators SLOOH often discuss with visitors in the Chat room SLOOH. You can join them if you have AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) software installed. It is an option only. For details, you must click on the Chat button on the interface of the mission.
If you arrive earlier, the mission starts automatically the scheduled time. If you arrive while the mission is running, you can join in progress.
SLOOH also launch a href = "http://groups.yahoo.com/group/slooh/"> User Group on Yahoo if you can check what people have to say about it.
The Version 2 SLOOH went live March 18, 2006. A year of preparation, this version was inspired by his commitment to live users astronomy. In addition existing features, SLOOH 2 provides some elements and bold new novel

SLOOH 2.0 is designed to empower its users (more than 60 countries) to share their enthusiasm for
astronomy with the general public. Foremost among the changes is Channel the new member, which allows members to broadcast their solo missions for the remainder of the composition of visualization.
