Casing Moulding
How do you measure door casing trim /moulding?
I need to know how to write it down on paper. I measured it the 2 side casings are 6’9″ x 2, the one on the top is 6’5″ and the width is 4″.
Like when you measure a door you put example 6’6 3/4″ x 2’11 1/2″
I think you are asking how to write the measures down on paper, if so then :
Let’s see, if i measure a piece 6 feet and 4 inches long and 3 inches wide. Then that would be written as:
6 ft. 4 in. By 3 in.
6ft 4in X 3 in.
or
6’4″ X 3″
( ‘X’ for “By”, single quote for feet, double quote for inches)
How to measure to cut:
measure from inside corner left to inside corner right. Cut both ends from that measure on a 45 degree angle outward. The left side cut is 45 degrees from mark to the left. The right side is 45 degrees from mark to the right.
Measure down, inside again from corner to floor for each. Cut bottom straight cut, cut tops 45 degree angle again.
