Antique Brushed
How can I get that brushed, antiqued, rustic look when painting interiors?

Its hard to see but I want to paint a room in the house to look like this, using a base coat and a darker, softly stroked coat on top to give it a sort of rustic look.
That’s a faux-finish technique.
The picture IS hard to make-out, but it looks as tho it was ‘dry-brushed’… which is to say that you dip your brush into the over-colour, and then get as much paint out of the brush as possible… you don’t want it ‘wet’.
You do this by brushing the excess paint off onto paper towels. What you have left is just a ‘hint’ of paint in your brush, which you then very lightly brush over the base coat.
It would behoove you to go to your local library and check out a few books on ‘faux-finish’ painting. They will supply you with pictures, lists of the best products and supplies you will need, and the techniques utilized to achieve the ‘look’ you want.
It can seem daunting when you first try your hand at faux-finishing, but, it’s only paint! after all, and easily painted over if it turns out not up to par, *s*
