Amp Breaker
Let's start this article in 2004. I was in the renovation of old houses. A man I rode with had just bought an old family home and was interested in getting laid. So far, so good, but then I'm stupid. The house where I am currently living had been sold and I was looking for a place to live. I suggested that I go into the house I had to remodel and do the work instead of rent. We have reached an agreement, but as I said, I'm stupid. No contract has been written and he immediately asked for rent money because it was short. Now, this house could not be rented in the normal manner because it does not meet code regulations in several level. The biggest violation is the electrical system. There is no main breaker and the house runs off a section 15 amps. There are no breakers GFI in the bathroom or kitchen. The only outlet in the kitchen that comes out of the light in the ceiling.
This house has plaster and lathe. In many places, the plaster is falling from the wall creating large holes. Much of the floor of the paint is lead based. Exterior the house is in poor condition which allows for squirrels in the ceiling to the floor. The basement is unusable do to the groundwater from in. Despite all these problems, we moved in anyway. I can not blame my stupidity of someone else. What I the blame on someone else do the owners denial of all that is evil and not fixing anything.
fter obtained my bad health in 2004, I found myself unable to afford to move and no financial aid available. My second major I always error has been paid in cash and never got a receipt. I will ensure that this house is never rented again in its current state. If I had never thought it would fail to agree, I never moved here.
The most important thing to learn from this fact is, if someone does not want a written agreement, do not trust them. An agreement is designed to protect both parties from each other. A slumlord does worry not get caught because even though he knows he's wrong, he is sure he is right. Most often, slumlord is certain that the sanctions will below the cost of repair. A slumlord is aware of what the codes are and does not care. A slumlord is not worried about a contract because that most tenants will not be prosecuted because of the fear of what he could say about them. I do not know about other states, but here New York, you can contact the State Attorneys Office and obtain a brochure on tenant rights and responsibilities of both the landlord and the tenant.
