What are the problems living in an alpine region?
Need a paragraph for Geography… and can’t find anything in my textbook, or on the internet. ANyone have any ideas?
It’s a bit obvious, really.
Alpine areas may have difficult weather conditions. Snow may make access difficult in the winter, for example, and snow melt causing rivers to swell up in spring/summer could also cause problems.
Mountainous regions may be difficult to access because of small, steep, windy roads, and the distance from major towns or cities, which means having to drive a long way to get to the nearest shops.
Linked in with this, there is the problem of jobs. If you have to travel a long way to get to the nearest city, getting a job could be difficult. Or jobs may be quite seasonal – lots of jobs in the skiing season, for example, but not many in the summer when there are less tourists. Access to schools, hospitals etc. may also be difficult.
There are loads of other problems, just think about it for a bit – if you lived in an alpine area, what things could you not do or have? Think about the weather, how isolated it is, things like that.
