Is there a difference between shatter-proof, pyrex and acrylic glass?
I’m looking to buy a glass object, but i want it to be glass! I don’t want it to look or feel cheap like that plastic imitation glass crockery. So my question is: Is there a difference between shatter-proof, pyrex and acrylic glass? If so, which is the nicest?
Shatter-proof is usually laminated glass. It’s made of regular glass but has a thin plastic coating to hold it together when it breaks.
Pyrex is a clear ceramic that looks and feels like glass. It is heat resistant so you can cook with it. It breaks rather than smashes, but it can have sharp edges.
Acrylic is plastic.
Do not clean Plexi glass or Acrylic with alcohol.
